The long wait of the commuters from Ghaziabad will now come to an end, as an agreement of understanding has been approved by the UP cabinet, which was signed between GDA Vice-Chairman Santosh Yadav and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Chief Mangu Singh for the 9.41 km-long extension of metro line from Dilshad Garden to New Bus Stand in Ghaziabad, while stating that the construction work of the project will start soon and setting 2017 as the deadline for the completion of the project.
The state government approved the costs to be incurred by the four agencies including GDA, Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation, UP Housing and Development Board and UP State Industrial Development Corporation, and as per the funding pattern decided, a total Rs.1,770 crore will be shared by the union government. This project will give a big boost to development in the entire region, as the line over an elevated section on GT Road, which is expected to cater to more than one lakh commuters, will provide improved connectivity to Delhi for Shahid Nagar, Shalimar Garden, Raj Nagar, Raj Nagar Extension, Siyani, Mohan Nagar and Arthala areas of Ghaziabad.
This project will link Dilshad Garden in Delhi with New Bus Stand in Ghaziabad, which will have Metro line including seven stations - Shahid Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala and New Bus Adda.
